Recently, according to the announcement of Royal Academy of Engineering of its list of new fellows for this year, Jing Xudong, UPC’s alumnus of the Class of 1981 majoring in petroleum engineering, was successfully elected.
Jing Xudong
Jing Xudong is now a professor at Imperial College London and a visiting professor at UPC. He graduated from our university in 1985 with a bachelor degree of petroleum engineering major; in 1990, he obtained his doctorate from Imperial College London. He has held technical and leadership positions at shell companies across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the United States, with over 30 years of development experience. His research focuses on oil and gas development, oil recovery enhancement, unconventional shale gas development, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). Having published over 100 papers, co-authored two books on petroleum engineering, Jing is a renowned expert and scholar in the oil and gas industry. He is also a fellow of the Energy Institute (FEI), a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), a Chartered Engineer (CEng), and a distinguished member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). He serves on the executive and technical committees of various international societies and has received the highest award for outstanding achievement from the Society of Core Analyst (The Darcy Award 2024).
Founded in 1976, the Royal Academy of Engineering, is the pinnacle of engineering and technology in the UK, gathering the most distinguished experts and scholars from the UK and Commonwealth countries. The Academy annually selects no more than 60 new UK fellows, 10 International Fellows, and 5 Honorary Fellows to recognize their outstanding contributions to engineering and technology.
