The 15th UPC International Symposium on New Well Logging Techniques and the Topical Conference SPWLA East China Chapter Held

Recently, the 15th UPC International Symposium on New Well Logging Techniques and the Topical Conference SPWLA East China Chapter was held in Hangzhou. This event was co-organized by the State Key Laboratory of Deep Oil and Gas and China University of Petroleum (East China).

The “UPC International Symposium on New Well Logging Techniques” is a series of academic activities initiated by UPC since 2009. It has now become a widely recognized high-end platform for academic exchange in the industry, with a strong reputation both domestically and internationally. The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA), the largest and most authoritative organization in the field of well logging, has established chapters across China, with UPC serving as the organizing body for the East China Chapter. This year’s symposium, co-organized by the PetroChina Zhejiang Oilfield Company[VAE1] and the FairOak Technology Inc[VAE2] ,was themed “Advancements and Challenges in Logging Techniques for Deep and Unconventional Oil and Gas”. The conference focused on logging techniques for deep and unconventional oil and gas resources, directly addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by exploration and development. Participants carried out extensive and in-depth discussions on the latest advancements, challenges, and opportunities in various aspects, such as logging methods, techniques, equipment, and applications.

The conference conducted in-depth exchanges on the latest advancements in various logging methods, including electrical, acoustic, nuclear, and nuclear magnetic logging, along with progress in logging equipment research and data applications. Additionally, it explored the use of next-generation information technologies, such as big data, artificial intelligence, and deep learning, in the logging industry. Extensive consensus was reached that logging techniques play an irreplaceable role in the exploration and development of deep and unconventional oil and gas as well as new energy sources. It is necessary to strengthen cooperation and exchanges, so as to serve the national energy security strategy through scientific and technological progress.
