From August 11 to 14, the 16th Global Chinese Chemical Engineers Symposium (the 16th Annual Conference of Global Academy of Chinese Chemical Engineering Scholars) was held in Qingdao.

Over 850 leading experts and scholars including 29 academicians and 167 national-level talents in the field of chemical engineering from 10 countries and regions gathered to discuss the cutting-edge research issues in international chemical engineering, and to promote international exchanges and cooperations, so as to foster academic prosperity in chemical engineering and technology, advance interdisciplinary integration and collaborative innovation among enterprises, universities and research institutes, and enhance the global influence of Chinese chemical engineers.

Academician Hao Fang, President of UPC, delivered a speech, expressing warm congratulations on the successful convening of the symposium. He stated that UPC has continuously strengthened its construction of research platforms and talent teams to meet the major strategic needs in China’senergy sector, and has been making ongoing efforts in high-end chemical engineering and other fields to enhance its ability to serve national development strategies. He emphasized that with significant international influence, global Chinese chemical engineers have made outstanding contributions to the academic prosperity and technological innovation in chemical engineering. He hoped that this symposium would further promote academic exchanges, inspire innovative vitality, and attract more outstanding talents in chemical engineering to join UPC, sow as to advance UPC’stalent cultivation and scientific technological innovation capabilities in this field to new heights.

The 4-day symposium featured various exchange activities, including plenary lectures, parallel sessions, and poster presentations. Additionally, five specialized forums were held: the “Technology Transfer Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum”,the “Chemical Engineering Education Forum”, the “Future Chemical Engineering Forum”,the “Excellent PhD Candidates Forum”,and the “Young Researchers Forum”.The symposium received over 1,000 papers, covering topics such as chemical engineering theory, separation and purification processes, catalytic reaction engineering, biochemical and pharmaceutical engineering, resources and energy chemical engineering, dual-carbon chemical engineering, green chemical manufacturing, intelligent chemical engineeringand process safety. Twelve parallel sessions with 337 presentations were arranged. Highlights also included in activities like“Meeting Editors of Journals Related to Chemical Engineering”, the “Excellent PhD Night”,and the awarding ceremony, providing participants with a multi-level, comprehensive academic feast.
The Global Chinese Chemical Engineers Symposium is a world-wide academic conference initiated in 2009 by Academician Zhu Jingxu, distinguished professor at Western University in Canada, along with other Chinese chemical engineers from both domestic and international communities. The first symposium was held in Niagara Falls, Canada, in 2009. Since then, the symposium has alternated between domestic and international venues, gaining widespread recognition and attention from Chinese chemical engineers around the world. It has become a high-level, cross-disciplinary professional event for global Chinese chemical engineers.
