Recently, China Oil and Gas Development Technology Annual Conference was held in Beijing. In the exhibition of new achievements and technologies hosted by the conference, UPC set the exhibition booth and board for “Belt and Road” Joint Laboratory of China-Saudi Arabia Petroleum Energy (abbreviated as “the Laboratory”) to promote the laboratory construction unit, scientific research platform, research direction, unique technology and other sections.

The Laboratory was approved for construction by the Ministry of Science and Technology in August 2021. Led by China University of Petroleum (East China) and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia, it is the only national-level international joint laboratory in oil and gas.Focusing on the key fields of “Belt and Road” energy cooperation, the Laboratory jointly carries out basic theoretical research and key technology breakthrough in three directions: efficient exploration and development of oil and gas, construction of green and intelligent oil fields, and efficient conversion and utilization of oil and gas, establishes an international research platform and a highland for talent training for petroleum energy exploration and development, builds a “China-Saudi Arabia energy community”, promotes collaborative innovation in science and technology as well as common development of society and economy between China and Saudi Arabia, and accelerates the popularization and application of joint research results in the Middle East countries and regions along the “Belt and Road”, to provides support for “Belt and Road” initiative.

With the theme of “Simultaneous Development of Oil and Gas, Synchronous Increase of Production and Efficiency”, 12 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 15 executives and experts of well-known enterprises from domestic and overseas were invited to make keynote speeches at the conference. A main conference, 7 sub-forums and new technology and achievements exhibition were held to display the greatly improved oil recovery technology, stable production of old oil and gas fields, efficient production of new fields, deep field and deepwater development, efficient development of unconventional oil and gas, construction of intelligent oil and gas fields, clean energy utilization and development of green and low-carbon technologies such as CCUS. During the conference,a total of 130 reports were shared, more than 1,000 people attended in person, and over 300,000 people watched the online live broadcast.
