UPC Participated in 13th China-South Korea University Presidents Forum

The 13th China-South Korea University Presidents Forum was held on Dec 7 with the support of the two countries’ education ministries.The forum was organized byJeonbuk National Universityin South Korea. UPC and 21 “double first-class” universities, including Tsinghua University, Fudan University and Wuhan University, and 26 well-known universities in South Korea, including Yonsei University, Korea University and Sungkyunkwan University, participatedin a combination of online and offline.Dai Caili, Vice President of UPC attended the forum and made a keynote speech.

The forum has two major themes: “Promoting Higher Education Development in Post-COVID-19 Era, Cooperation Plan between Chinese and South Korean Universities” and “Direction and Topics of University Education Innovation in Fourth Industrial Revolution Era”.Leaders of 19 Chinese and Korean universities, including Renmin University of China, China University of Petroleum (East China), Hanyang University and Pusan National University, made special reports and discussions on the two themes.

Dai Caili delivered a keynote speech entitled “Excellence Leads and Integrated Innovation -- Construction and Practice of Core Competitiveness Training Mode for Postgraduate Students in Energy”. She introduced the overall situation of UPC and the development needs, shared the experience of the reform measures from the four aspects of the whole scene shaping, interdisciplinary integration, and cooperation inside and outside the university and at home and abroad according to the ideal and belief, knowledge integration ability, practice and innovation ability and cross-cultural competence of the postgraduate students, showed the good results achieved in the reform practice, and hoped that Chinese andKoreanuniversities will continue to deepen exchanges, jointly promote the high-quality development of postgraduate education and contribute more to global scientific and technological innovation and regional economic and social development.

The China-South Korea University Presidents Forum was initiated in 2007 by the Ministry of Education of the two countries and organized alternately by the universities of the two countries, and thirteen sessions have been successfully held so far.As an important platform for higher education exchanges between China and South Korea, the Forum has a positive impact on the reform and development of education in China and South Korea, and has become an important part of the cultural exchange mechanism between China and South Korea.The 14th China-South Korea University Presidents Forum will be held at Lanzhou University in 2023.

As a founding member of the Forum, UPC has actively responded to the policy requirements of the Ministry of Education and the local government on strengthening education openness and exchange and cooperation with South Korea, and has participated in the forum for many times.At present, UPC has established cooperative partnerships with 12 Korean universities such as Yonsei University, Hanyang University and Kyunghee University. Since 2015, We have sent a total of 90 staff members to South Korea for exchange, and received 70 South Korean teachers for visits. More than 200 students have been sent to South Korea for long-term or short-term exchange visits, and more than 150 Korean students have been recruited and trained.
