13th International Symposium on New Logging Technologies was held online.
On November 24 and 25, the 13th UPC International Symposium on New Logging Technology was held by China University of Petroleum (East China) through global online conference. The symposium attracted experts, scholars, teachers, students, engineers and technicians from colleges and universities, scientific research institutes, relevant international industry associations, petroleum companies, enterprises and public institutions, and professional technology companies from China, the United States, Russia, Brazil and other countries to attend the conference. 15 special invited presentations and nearly 50 other oral presentations were presented.
Vice President Dai Caili delivered a speech for the symposium.
With the theme of “Electric Logging Technology Frontier and Challenge”, the main venue of the symposium was set in UPC. At the opening ceremony, Dai Caili, Vice President of UPC, delivered a speech on behalf of our university, expressing warm welcome to all the experts and scholars attending the conference and sincere thanks to all the relevant units. In recent years, the oil industry had been demanding more logging technology for deep, ultra-deep and unconventional oil and gas exploration and development needs, she said. To strengthen the research of well logging science and technology was an important task and glorious mission for every expert and scholar in well logging. The symposium would further promote the cooperation and exchange of universities, petroleum enterprises and professional companies in well logging technology, and played a positive role in the scientific and technological progress of the well logging industry.
Experts gave presentations online.
The reports covered theoretical research, equipment development, interpretation and evaluation, software development and others, mainly focusing on electromagnetic wave while drilling, through casing resistivity, electrical imaging, array induction, rock physics and other advances in electrical logging technology. The technical methods and application fields involved in the reports covered a wide range and were highly targeted, which provided direction and guidance for the key research direction, development objectives and strategies of logging technology in the next step.
“UPC International Symposium on New Logging Technologies”, initiated by UPC, has been successfully held for 13 sessions and is one of the professional conferences promoted by SPWLA to the world. 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the publication of the theory of “Zhang's geometric Factors” by Mr. Zhang Gengji, an internationally famous expert in electrical logging and former professor of the School of Geosciences of UPC, so the theme of the symposium is of special significance. The symposium set up a high-end exchange and cooperation platform for experts, scholars, teachers, students and engineers in logging counterparts and related fields, which is of great significance for summarizing experience, enhancing consensus and jointly promoting intelligent development of logging technology.
