The World Young Scientists Summit 2022 was opened in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, on Nov 12. And the 17th China Youth Science and Technology Award was announced at the opening ceremony. Professor Qiao Yingyun from College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of UPC won the award.

Qiao Yingyun, professor and doctoral supervisor of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of UPC, has been committed to the innovation and application of green, low carbon and high value utilization technology of carbon energy for a long time. She has created a molecular coal chemistry research system based on chemical group composition, enriched and developed the universal biomass group composition theory, guided the research and development of a number of original innovative technologies and equipment, and successfully carried out industrial application, demonstration or pilot test, which has provided technical support for our green efficient and low carbon transformation and utilization and national ecological environmental protection strategy implementation.Therelated research achievements have won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and the second prize of National Technological Invention Award. She also has led the establishment of Qingdao Key Laboratory of Biological Carbon Sequestration and Refining, published 46 papers in energy TOP journals, 5 of which were highly cited, and been authorized 6 American inventions and 18 Chinese patents.

Proposed by Qian Xuesen, Zhu Guangya and other older scientists, China Youth Science and Technology Award was jointly initiated and implemented by the Organization Department of the CCCPC, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the China Association for Science and Technology and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. The award is held every two years, and no more than 100 people will be honored in each session. And it aims to train a group of young academic and technological leaders who have the ability to entered the forefront of science and technology in the world, and recognize and reward young scientific and technological talents who have made outstanding achievements in the country’s economic development, social progress and scientific and technological innovation.
