Recently, the Ministry of Education has announced the list of 2021 national and provincial first-class undergraduate majors. China University of Petroleum (East China) (UPC) has been approved ten national first-class undergraduate majors, and seven provincial first-class undergraduate majors. So far, a total of 48 majors in UPC have been selected into the “Double-First Class” initiative, including 32 national and 16 provincial first-class undergraduate majors. The rate of these majors has reached 81% of the total majors, accounting for 94% of the majors which canapplyand 88% of the total enrollment plan. The overall level of undergraduate education in UPC has been further improved and recognized.

In recent years, UPC has comprehensively deepened the education and teaching reform, focused on the first-class undergraduate majors, continuously deepenedconnotationconstruction, and promoted the major construction and competitiveness to a new level. Since 2018, UPC has actively served national and regional development strategies, constructed 8 new engineering majors, such as intelligent manufacturing engineering, new energy materials and devices, energy storage science and engineering, etc., built a first-class talent training platform, and accelerated the system for cultivating undergraduate talents in the new era.
