On October 27, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement on Collaborative Talent Training by Integration of Science and Education between Shandong Provincial Education Department and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was held in Jinan. Liu Huadong, deputy secretary of the University Party Committee and vice president of China University of Petroleum(UPC), attended the ceremony on behalf of the University and signed the agreement with Institute of Metal Research, CAS, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS and Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS.

According to the agreement, the University and the three Institutes will give full play to their respective advantages. All parties plan to strengthen the discipline construction and development, emphasizing the development direction of interdisciplinary subjects such as basic research and application transformation. They also aim to promote talent training, exchange and mutual employment, and jointly build excellent teams and train graduate students.

Besides, the University will open Experimental Class of Materials Science with Institute of Metals, CAS, promoting the opening and sharing of high-quality teaching and scientific research resources such as laboratories, instruments and books. Relying on preponderant disciplines of both sides, full use of advantages should be made in industry-oriented services to jointly build laboratories and other platforms. Moreover, combined with the major strategic needs of the Country and the development trend of science and technology, support should be called together to carry out scientific research and development, make technical breakthroughs and promote the transformation of achievements.
During the signing ceremony, Liu made a report to introduce the development status of the University. Meanwhile, he elaborated the multiple modes, the plans and measures of the University to further promote Collaborative Talent Training by Integration of Science and Education.
