On Sept. 13, the university held 2020 opening ceremony on the stadium. University leaders, 2020 freshmen, teachers representatives attended the ceremony to extend a warm welcome to all the freshmen.

President Hao Fang delivered a speech entitled Splendid Youth Comes from Striving.
On behalf of the staff in UPC, President Hao Fang extended the sincere congratulations and warm welcome to all the excellent freshmen, and paid high respect to the parents and teachers who have cultivated them. In the speech, he told the deeds of anti-epidemic heroes, the stories of excellent teachers and alumni as well as the extraordinary running course of the University, and put forward the following four expectations: to build upward spirit; to foster patriotic feelings; to cultivate the spirit of hard strive. to improve individual ability.
He hoped that the students would carry forward the Spirit of UPC and integrate personal development into that of the Country, striving for the realization of the “Two Centenary Goals” together.
Professor Yu Liandong delivered a speech.
Professor Yu Liandong, Dean of College of Control Science and Engineering, delivered a speech on behalf of all the teachers. He hoped that students can aim high and stay grounded, leading a rich and colorful campus life in the following years in UPC.
Wang Shengjun from School of Geosciences delivered a speech.
As a representative of freshmen, Wang Shengjun from School of Geosciences, said that under the guidance of UPC spirit, all freshmen should cherish time and strive to be competent youth.
International student Chun Yu from College of International Education made a speech.
Chun Yu, a fresher from College of International Education, made a speech on behalf of all the foreign students. She expressed that the longing for China and the ardent love for Chinese are rooted in her since childhood. Having been here, she was determined to master the expertise and to be a friendly messenger between China and Russia.
Senior student Gao Xiaoxuan from College of Oceanography and Space Informatics made a speech.
Gao Xiaoxuan, a senior student of College of Ocean and Space Information, made a speech on behalf of the students in UPC to warmly welcome all the freshmen. By telling her own experience, she encouraged the freshmen to cultivate logical thinking and to be self-disciplined.
More than ten media broadcast live the Ceremony and half a million people watched the Ceremony online.
The Opening Ceremony received widespread social concern that over 10 social media broadcast live it and half a million people watched it. With the multi-camera and multi-angle aerial video, the warm Ceremony and the charming campus were well acclaimed.
