Meryuert Junusbekova, 19 years old, is a beautiful girl from Kazakhstan and now studying petroleum engineering as a freshman in UPC. She is proficient in Chinese language and has got a beautiful Chinese name, Zhen Zhu (Eng. Pearl). In fact, this is the second year since she came to China. She got Chinese training for a year in Zibo before she came to the university.
Being ken on foreign language study
Meryuert Junusbekova is good at foreign language learning. She tries her best to learn language of other nations. “I love sea, so I love Tsingtao very much. I want to find a job and live in China in the coming future. ” Thus, she spares no efforts to learn Chinese. “I am not satisfied with being familiar with words. I want to learn more about its meaning.” Now she has learned Chinese so well that her parents even thought she is like a Chinese now. Under her influence, they also learned some simple Chinese words, such as NI HAO, XIEXIE, ZAIJIAN. She said,“I can’t help speaking Chinese in the daily life.” She also takes part in speech contests to practice Chinese.
As she said, she dreams to be a translator in the future. Therefore, besides Chinese, she also want to learn Korean, French and other languages in the future.
Being curious about Chinese traditional Culture
Meryuert Junusbekova likes reading Chinese books from which she has learned a lot about China culture. She recalled, “When I was a child, my father often read The Analects of Confucius to me and taught me do’s and don’ts”. She also ever read the Chinese Classic Novel Pilgrimage to the West and shared the story of with her family.
When it comes to traditional Chinese festivals, she is extremely excited and shows great curiosity. . “But I haven’t enjoyed the spring festival in China. But I know, on that special day, people love to eat dumplings, watch spring festival gala and paste spring couplets. It’s very different from the festivals in Kazakhstan. I would like to stay in China to enjoy the spring festival this winter holiday.” Besides, she has crush on Peking Opera, the quintessence of Chinese culture. “I was deeply attracted by their costumes, facial makeup and walking postures.”
“After coming in China, I found that Chinese people likes drinking tea. She would like to invite her friends to drink tea when they visit her dormitory. “I like Chinese tea and have collected many species. Now I know a lot of the tea art of China. ”, she said with a proud smile.
