UPC Took the Lead in ASRTU Green Establishment

On June 30th, UPC and Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas jointly led the establishment of the Green Development Academic Sub Allianceof Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (Abbreviated as “ASRTU Green”). At the same time, the first Academic Annual Conference on Low-carbon Energy and Sustainable Development of ASRTU was held. Over 300 representatives of teachers and students from 14 Chinese universities and 11 Russian universities attended the meeting.

ASRTU Green was founded by 20 member universities of ASRTU. The permanent secretariats are set in China University of Petroleum (East China) and Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas respectively. And the official establishment was jointly witnessed by more than 50 leaders and representatives of Chinese and Russian universities, as well as over 260 teachers and students.

The first Academic Annual Conference on Low-carbon Energy and Sustainable Development was jointly organized by School of Petroleum Engineering, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Economics and Management of UPC. A total of 28 experts from China and Russia exchanged and explored innovative theories and technologies of low-carbon transformation around three directions: low-carbon energy development and efficient utilization, green chemicals and environmental protection, energy economy and policies. They exchanged and shared scientific solutions for carbon neutrality, carbon peaking and global climate governance. The conference received more than 130 papers and academic posters from Chinese and Russian teachers and students. During the conference, UPC, on behalf of ASRTU Green, initiated and held a working seminar with the theme of “Partnership and Progress: Chinese and Russian Technical Universities under ASRTU Green”.

During the recess, UPC signed a strategic cooperation agreement with North-Eastern Federal University of Russia to formally establish a cooperative partnership, and would carry out extensive cooperation in the future in terms of teacher visits, student exchanges, scientific research cooperation, joint application of fund projects and joint publishing.
