A delegation from China University of Petroleum (East China)（UPC）, led by Vice-President Dai Caili, visited Mexico from September 2 to 4 and attended the ninth meeting of the Science and Technology Subcommittee of the China-Mexico Inter-Governmental Standing Committee in Mexico City.

At the meeting, Dai Caili delivered a keynote speech highlighting UPC’s technological advances in deep oil and gas exploration and development. She noted that, drawing on its experience in the establishment of international joint laboratories and international technical cooperation, UPC is ready to carry out practical cooperation with Mexican counterparts in deep oil‑and‑gas exploration and development and high‑level talent cultivation, so as to further deepen and substantiate China‑Mexico energy‑technology cooperation.

During the visit, Dai Caili and her delegation visited the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where they met with representatives from its Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Chemistry, Institute of Engineering, Institute of Geophysics and other affiliated entities. Both sides briefed each other on their respective disciplinary strengths and research priorities, conducted in‑depth exchanges over talent training and research collaboration in the petroleum sector, and reached a preliminary consensus on avenues for future cooperation.

In addition, Dai Caili and her delegation held discussions with UPC alumni based in Mexico and set up an alumni liaison office locally. Dai briefed the alumni on UPC’s latest progress and encouraged them to remain concerned about and support their alma mater, and contribute to China‑Mexico friendship and energy cooperation from their respective posts. The alumni shared their work‑and‑life experiences in Mexico, stating they would carry forward UPC’s fine traditions and contribute to China’s national energy strategy as well as China‑Mexico cooperation.
