As the new academic year begins, China University of Petroleum (East China) is conducting new‑student orientation activities across its two campuses simultaneously. The Tangdaowan Campus, steeped in history and academic heritage, maintains its warm hospitality, while the newly completed Guzhenkou Campus officially opens its doors. Together, the two campuses welcome 10,046 new students of the 2026 intake from all corners of the globe. As of press time, 4,604 undergraduate freshmen have completed registration, marking an 89% registration rate; 2,603 postgraduate freshmen have registered, at a 64% rate. In total, 7,207 new students have checked in, yielding an overall university‑wide registration rate of 78%.
University leaders visited college‑level registration desks and student residence halls across the Tangdaowan and Guzhenkou campuses to inspect on‑site orientation work firsthand. They also expressed their appreciation to staff and volunteers working on the front lines of the orientation work. During cordial conversations with new students and their parents, leaders inquired about their adaptation to campus life. They encouraged the freshmen to make the most of their college years, study diligently and put knowledge into practice, and grow into competent young people capable of shouldering missions of the new era.
To ensure a smooth and orderly orientation process across both campuses, university departments and colleges have worked closely together to put comprehensive support measures in place and provide thoughtful, student-centered services. The university’s digital orientation platform has been operating efficiently, enabling new students to complete most enrollment procedures online. On‑site verification procedures have also been kept quick and streamlined. Registration points at individual colleges have been carefully organized, with a variety of creative activities and services designed to welcome incoming students. Volunteers kept busy on the front line, offering guidance, assisting with registration, carrying luggage and delivering other thoughtful services. The Guzhenkou Campus is hosting its very first cohort of freshmen. Boasting brand‑new buildings and spacious grounds, it welcomes students coming from far and wide.
