On the afternoon of February 13, as the Spring Festival drew near, Chinese Premier Li Qiang hosted a symposium at the Great Hall of the People with representatives of foreign experts who had been awarded the 2025 Chinese Government Friendship Award and foreign experts working in China. Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang was present. Professor Werner Nau, a distinguished foreign expert of our university, Vice President of Constructor University in Germany, and recipient of the Qilu Friendship Award, was invited to attend. This was the first time that foreign experts from our university had been invited to such a high-level symposium.

At the symposium, Li extended New Year greetings and sincere wishes to the foreign experts, and thanked them for their long-term care and support for China's development and construction. Experts from Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Uganda, Bulgaria, Belarus and other countries delivered speeches on topics such as technological innovation, agricultural development, cultural exchanges, talent cultivation, and investment cooperation.
Li pointed out that China has always been committed to opening up and has expanded international cooperation in various fields. He hoped that foreign experts would continue to serve as a bridge connecting China and the world, playing a greater role in enhancing mutual understanding and trust and achieving mutual benefit and win-win results. Foreign experts have made contributions in China, and their innovative achievements benefit both China and the world. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China adopted the Proposal for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, mapping out the development blueprint for the next five years. He hoped that the experts would seize the opportunities, have a deeper understanding of China, and work together to create a better future and make greater contributions to the progress of human civilization.
Li emphasized that foreign experts working in China are sincere friends of the Chinese people. The Chinese government will strive to create a better environment for everyone, safeguard peace and stability, strengthen policy support for innovation, and optimize services such as visas, social security, medical care, and children's education, so that talents from all over the world can work with peace of mind, live comfortably, and develop smoothly, achieving both career success and a sense of belonging.

Professor Werner Nau, an internationally renowned chemist and leading expert in supramolecular chemistry, has long been engaged in research on functional molecular design, supramolecular recognition mechanisms, and intelligent material development. He has published more than 300 high-influence papers and has an H-index of 80. Since 2011, he has established long-term research cooperation with our university. Through in-depth cooperation with Constructor University in Germany and multiple European institutions in education, scientific research, faculty and student exchanges, and joint training, this cooperation has significantly enhanced the academic influence of our university in Europe. In 2025, he was awarded the "Qilu Friendship Award", the highest honor for foreign experts in Shandong Province.
Professor Werner Nau's invitation to this symposium reflects the country's high recognition of our university's achievements in introducing international talent, and also demonstrates our university's positive practice in opening up to the outside world and deepening international cooperation. In order to contribute to strengthening China-Europe and global scientific and educational exchanges, our university will continue to improve the support system for foreign experts, build a more competitive international academic environment, and attract more foreign experts to join us in promoting the development of the university.
