UPC Sent Delegation to Visit Russian Universities and to Participate in the BRICS Academic Forum

From October 13th to 18th, a delegation composed of the International Office, the School of Geosciences, the School of Petroleum Engineering and the School of Foreign Studies visited several universities in Russia, including the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and Saint Petersburg Mining University. The delegation, together with the faculty and student groups, also participated in the BRICS Academic Forum on “Mineral Resources as the Foundation of National Sovereignty: Workforce and Innovation Environment” held at Saint Petersburg Mining University.

At Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, the delegation held discussions with relevant personnel on topics such as joint student cultivation, scientific research cooperation, and the association of Sino-Russian technical universities. At Lomonosoy Moscow State University, the delegation discussed with relevant officials on matters such as scientific research and student exchange and visited the laboratories of the Faculty of Life Sciences. During the visit, the delegation also had an exchange with overseas students studying there, laying a foundation for the recruitment of overseas top-notch talents in the future.

At the BRICS Academic Forum, Professor Huang Fang, director of the International Office, attended a round-table discussion as a special guest. He shared the experience of UPC in international talent cultivation and discipline construction and discussed the sharing and cooperation in mineral resource education. In addition, Yang Na, a doctoral student, and Zhang Xixue, a master student from UPC, stood out among more than 180 presentations in the sub-forums, earning 2 “WINNER” awards (a total of 17 reports were awarded).

The Delegation Exchanged Ideas with the Consul General of Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Saint Petersburg

During the forum, the delegation met with the president of Saint Petersburg Mining University and exchanged ideas with the consul general of Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Saint Petersburg. In addition, the delegation visited the teaching laboratories, training centers, and mining museum of Saint Petersburg Mining University and signed a cooperation intention memorandum with its Faculty of Oil and Gas Engineering.
