On February 6, Mr. Leonardo Alfonso Kam Binns, Panamanian Ambassador to China, paid a visit to UPC. Dai Caili, Vice President of UPC, met the guests, accompanied by heads from Office of International Affairs, School of Foreign Studies and School of Humanities and Law.
Vice President Dai introduced the history, features, talent training, international cooperation and exchanges, cooperation with higher education institutions in Latin American countries, and education for Latin American students of UPC. She pointed out that, Panama is an important partner of “the Belt and Road Initiative”, and UPC hopes to establish mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation with higher education institutions and energy companies in Panama as well as Latin American countries to boost the construction of “the Belt and Road Initiative”. And we will carry out all-round cooperation in talent training, scientific research, university-enterprise cooperation, cultural exchanges and other fields to jointly improve the level of talent training and scientific research of the two sides, and at the same time contribute to the promotion of higher education exchanges and integration in bilateral countries and regions.
Leonardo Alfonso Kam Binns introduced the development of Panama’s economy, energy and universities, stressing that economy, trade, education and scientific research are important pillars of China-Panama relations. He pointed out the intersections in education and scientific research between Panama’s universities and enterprises and the characteristics of UPC, and put forward constructive cooperation channels and suggestions. He expressed his willingness to promote cooperation between the two sides.
During the visit, Leonardo Alfonso Kam Binnsand the delegation visited the Key Laboratory of Deep Oil and Gas and the Petroleum Industry Training Center, and highly praised the achievements of UPC in scientific research and talent training.
