The 11th International Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) Technical Conference was held in Qingdao from October 28 to 31. The conference was co-host by China Branch of International SUT and China University of Petroleum (Beijing), and was undertaken by China University of Petroleum (East China) . Vice President Dai Caili attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Frank Lim, President of the International SUT in China and Principal Consultant of 2H Offshore in the UK, and Professor Chang Yuanjiang from College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering served as the chairman and executive chairman of the organizing committee of the conference respectively.

With the theme of “Ships and Ocean Engineering”, the conference focused on underwater technology, ocean engineering equipment, and the development and utilization of Marine resources. More than 400 experts, scholars and postgraduates from more than 30 institutions, including CNOOC, CSSRC, American Classification Society (China) Co., LTD., China Classification Society, and nearly 20 domestic colleges and universities related to marine science participated in the conference in a combination of online and offline.

The conference included 5 invited lectures in the main venue and 56 academic reports in the sub-venue, and selected 11 students as outstanding report award winners. It set up an open platform for technical exchange, enhanced the international influence of the university in offshore oil and gas equipment engineering, offshore oil and gas safety engineering, shipbuilding and ocean engineering, strengthened the international cooperation between the relevant disciplines and research directions of the university and domestic universities, foreign universities, enterprises and research institutions, and promoted the progress of global underwater technology, especially the exploration and exploitation technology of marine resources.
