On Spet. 21, the list of World First-rate Universities and first-rate disciplines (Double First-rate) was officially released by Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance and National Development and Reform Commission. It covers 42 world first-rate universities and 95 universities with world first-rate disciplines under construction. The two disciplines of China University of Petroleum, oil and natural gas engineering & geological resources and geological engineering were included in the latter. 

    The national Double First-rate strategy is a new great higher education policy in China.  As planned, the country will build a number of universities  and disiciplines into the world first-rate in future years. It would be a great step for Chinese higher education, which means that these on-the-list universities will strive for the goal with more chances and challenges.
