Recently, Wang Yong, Party Secretary of UPC, led a delegation to Lomonosov Moscow State University, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, St. Petersburg Mining University, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas and the Chinese Embassy in Russia to deepen the inter-university exchanges and cooperation in education and scientific research with these institutions.

During the visit to St. Petersburg Mining University, the two sides held talks and exchanged ideas, reviewing the close cooperation between the two universities in academic exchange and talent cultivation in the past ten years. The two universities introduced their educational features, disciplinary advantages and development goals to each other, discussed cooperation fields and approaches in the new era, and reached agreements on joint cultivation of undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students, visits of teachers and scientific research cooperation. During the visit, Wang Yong and his delegation visited the Geological Museum of St. Petersburg Mining University and the Teaching and Research Laboratories of the College of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

During the visit to Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, the two sides introduced each other’s history, current development and previous cooperation, deeply discussed the cooperation intalent cultivation and joint scientific research, and reached broad consensus on promoting the development of Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities, establishing partnership and signing intercollegiate agreements. Wang Yong and his delegation visited the Scientific Research and Education Center of the university, the Laboratory of the College of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Transportation, and the Institute of Mechanical Engineering Materials and Transportation, and exchanged ideas with representatives of Gazprom.

During the visit to the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Wang Yong and his delegation visited the Oil and Gas Teaching Center and the Oil and Gas Storage and Transportation Laboratory of the university. The two sides reviewed the close cooperation and achievements in talent cultivation and faculty exchanges, discussed in depth the cooperation in joint talent cultivation, short-term exchanges of teachers, professor lecturing and joint scientific research, and affirmed the effective results achieved by jointly serving as the seventh rotating chairmanship unit of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities and leading the establishment of the Green Development Academic Sub Alliance. Finally, the two sidesreached consensus on further promoting the high-quality development of the Alliance.

During the visit, Wang Yong and his delegation exchanged ideas with the representatives of alumni in Moscow, learned about their study and life in Russia, introduced the recent development of UPC and its achievements, and listened to the opinions and suggestions of the alumni on the development of the university. Wang Yong presented cultural products in commemoration of UPC’s 70th anniversary to the alumni and encouraged them to seize the opportunity of continuous deepening of cultural exchanges and educational and cultural cooperation between China and Russia, to act as good messagers and bridges of China-Russia cultural exchanges, to carry forward the merits of UPC, to tell the Chinese story well, to strengthen professional abilities and to serve the motherland.

During the stay in Russia, Wang Yong and his delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Russia, exchanged views with Minister Sun Weidong and Minister-Counsellor Cao Shihai of the Department of Education， on the status and achievements of UPC’s exchange and cooperation with Russia and suggestions and opinions on promoting the cooperation in education, science and technology, culture and talent cultivation between China and Russia in the context of energy security. Sun Weidong fully recognized the positive contribution made by UPC to China-Russian educational exchanges and cooperation, and congratulated the fruitful results achieved by the delegation during the visit to Russia. He hoped that UPC could further strengthen the cooperation and exchanges with Russian institutions under the background of deepening the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era, so as to make great contributions to the cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Russia.
