The Second Saudi-China Oil Refinery Forum 2014 Held in UPC

From October 6th to 7th, the Second Saudi-China Oil Refinery Forum were held in UPC. The forum were hosted by UPC and KACST. Specialist from universities, research institutes and oil petrifaction enterprise in China, Saudi Arabia, Britain, Japan, gathered to exchange ideas on the development and cooperation of the latest oil refining technology. President Shan Honghong and Hamid A Almegren, head of petrochemical engineering insititute of KACST, delivered opening remarks.

      President Shan introduced the basic information of UPC. As she said, discussions in the field of applied research provided a chance for UPC to improve the ability of academic and research. Through cooperation with KACST, UPC would make greater contribution in promoting friendship between China and Saudi Arabia. Facing problems like energy crisis and global warming, specialists in the field of petrochemistry should seek for wiser, more effective and environment-friendly way to redesign the petroleum processing and petrochemical Technology. 

     Experts from both sides made reports and shared new findings in refinery technologies. The attendees also discussed topics of the fundamental and applied research on new catalysts, the oil cleaning refining process and treatment of refinery sulfur process, catalytic cracking, hydro-treating process, oil refining, and chemical process integration.
