Recently, the Spring Annual Meeting of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the 21st Global Congress on Process Safety, a top summit in the global field of chemistry and chemical safety, was successfully held in Dallas, the United States. Over 3,000 representatives attended the event. China University of Petroleum (East China) and the China Chemical Safety Association jointly hosted the China Session of the Congress. Professor Zhao Dongfeng served as the chairperson of the China Session. The China Occupational Safety and Health Association and Wanhua Chemical Group provided generous support for the organization of the China Session.

The China Session attracted more than 150 experts and scholars from various countries. Experts and scholars from UPC, the Center for Chemical Process Safety of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the CNPC Research Institute of Safety and Environment Technology, and other relevant domestic and international institutions engaged in heated discussions on topics including the annual progress of process safety in China, new methods for reaction hazard analysis, the process safety management assessment system, safety challenges and counter measures for VOCs facilities, and safety integrity level analysis techniques. These discussions showcased the innovative value of Chinese solutions in global chemical safety. The latest achievements of UPC’s research team in areas such as novel risk assessment methods and digital management of process safety have garnered significant attention from international counterparts.
As the world’s largest international conference in process safety with the broadest thematic coverage and strongest professional influence, the Global Congress on Process Safety has seen UPC’s continuous participation for 20 consecutive editions, including hosting 13 China Sessions. This year’s event further enhanced UPC’s popularity and influence in the international field of chemical safety.
