Recently, China Scholarship Council(CSC) announced the admission results of the 2024 high-level talents support program to study abroad in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Chen Jie, Wang Yahua, Lei Tianmeng and Zhang Yuanhang, majoring in petroleum engineering in School of Petroleum Engineering of UPC, successfully passed the expert review and obtained the qualification of national public joint cultivation of doctoral students, and would go to Russia in September 2024 to study in Lomonosov Moscow State University (also known as “Moscow University”). The approval is the first time for students in our university to obtain this funding.

In order to strengthen cooperation and talent cultivation with Russia, Ukraine and Belarus in basic disciplines and key core technical fields, CSC has selected outstanding students and scholars with excellent scientific research ability and development potential to study in these countries through the support program. The selected categories of the program include studying for a doctoral degree and joint cultivation of doctoral students, and the selected majors are limited to the advantages of science and technology in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The program is the highest level of government-sponsored study abroad program in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus of the CSC. CSC provides funding according to the standards of senior research scholars, and tuition assistance can beavailable for doctoral students.

In recent years, UPC has attached great importance to the selection of government-sponsored overseas education programs, closely combined with UPC’s long-term development plan and the needs of discipline construction, and based on making full use of the existing channels of international exchange and cooperation of our university and disciplines, to constantly expand the channel and improved the level of overseas education.
