National College Student Chemical Engineering Design Competition is one of the annual competitions of chemical engineering majors in colleges and universities in China with the highest level and the greatest impact. And it is held by Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC) and China Education Association of Chemical Industry (CEACI), and has been held 16 times since 2007. A total of 2,939 teams from 415 universities took part in the competition, reaching a new record high in the number of universities, teams and participants. Approved by CIESC and CEACI, UPC will undertake the final of the 17th National College Student Chemical Engineering Design Competition in 2023. Liu Yi, vice president of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in UPC, attended the flag handover ceremony and made a speech as the representative of the organizer.

UPC takes core discipline competitions as an important carrier to cultivate students’ innovative ability, and deeply implements the discipline competition plan of “one college, one cultural brand” and “one major, one characteristic” to ensure that each major has one competition at or above the provincial level. The College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering gives full play to the discipline advantages, relies on the construction of core courses such asPrinciples of Chemical EngineeringandChemical Reaction Engineering, strengthens the integration of theory and practice, takes the initiative to undertake the organization, training and selection of related competitions, promotes teaching and learning through competition, and strives to improve the engineering awareness and innovation ability of college students.
