Recently, China Association of Oceanic Engineering released the announcement of 2021 Ocean Engineering Science and Technology Award. The projects from UPC won 3 first prizes and 2 second prizes.
The projects that won the first prize were “ ‘Three Low’ OffshoreOil andGas Reservoirs Logging Evaluation Technology and Large-scale Application” by Professor Sun Jianmeng from School of Geosciences, “Multi-phase Change Flow Theory and Control Method for Deepwater Oil and Gas Well” by Professor Sun Baojiang from School of Petroleum Engineering, and “Designing and Manufacturing Theory and Method of Well Control Equipment for Offshore Oil and Gas Development” by Professor Cai Baoping from College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
The projects that won thesecond prizes were “Corrosion Mechanism and Prevention and Control Technology of Marine Oil and Gas Pipe in Supercritical CO2Environment with Impurities” by Professor Sun Chongte from School of Material Science and Engineering and “Key Technology and Engineering Application for Stimulation and Stable Productionof Hydrate Trial in Shallow Soft Formation Horizontal Well in South China Sea” participated by Professor Dong Changyin fromSchool of Petroleum Engineering.
The Ocean Engineering Science and Technology Award is approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC and National Office for Science & Technology Award in 2011 and established by China Association of Oceanic Engineering. As the only award in this field, it is open to the whole country and aims to encourage innovation in marine science and technology and commend scientists and units with outstanding contributions in ocean engineering basic research, and technology development and application. In 2021, the Award covered a total of 45 projects, including 2 grand prizes, 12 first prizes and 31 second prizes.
