On Nov. 28, Sichuan Basin Research Center was officially inaugurated. Xu Chunchun, the deputy manager of Petro China Southwest Oil & Gas field Company and Hao Fang, the president of China University of Petroleum, attended the opening ceremony. The two partners signed the cooperative agreements and pushed forward strategic cooperation comprehensively. According to the planning, Sichuan Basin Research Center will be built into a benchmarking center combining theoretical innovation with technological development and field exploration .

Sichuan Basin Research Center will focus on theoretical problems and technical bottlenecks of Sichuan Basin's oil geology and carry out the basic theoretical study and technological breakthrough. It will also promote academic cooperation and talents education in different fields and areas, such as thermal regime and basin evolution, meso-cenozoic structure and deep shale gas reservoir development mechanism. Besides, the application of scientific and technological achievements will be sped up. 0The certer will provide great support and power for the development of the two sides.

Hao Fang extended congratulations for the establishment and expressed thanks for the support from the company to the growth of the university. The co-construction proves to be of great significance for university-enterprise cooperation. The construction of the center is also one of the important part of the strategy adjustments of the university. In recent years, under the background of double first-class construction, the university has built new teams and platforms for scientific innovation, and offered technical assistance for the company in the solution of key issues. It will broaden the academic collaboration in Western China. The university has attached great importance to the cooperation with the company and it will exert the greatest efforts to ensure its construction and development.
