Recently, the Department of Science & Technology of Shandong Province released the list of 2018 Shandong Engineering Technology Centers. Four centers led by China University of Petroleum were included: Shandong Engineering Technology Research Center of Geophysical Well Logging, Shandong Engineering Technology Research Center of High Carbon Energy Low Carbonization, Shandong Engineering Technology Research Center of Ultra-deep Drilling Process Control, Shandong Engineering Technology Research Center of Deepwater Oil&Gas Equipment Manufacturing. Up to now, 9 engineering technology centers of Shandong province have been constructed in UPC.

In addition, the university received the two billion funds from Qingdao to support four projects of disciplines construction: efficient storage, transformation and application of new energy, innovation and development platform onstruction of new materials; energy and chemical industry; marine equipment and information technology. Serving for Qingdao projects of replacing old growth drivers with new ones, the projects will carry forward the study and development of key leading-edge technologies. In the present, to meet the needs of Qingdao, the university has been devoted to major projects and strive hard to enhance the ability of serving for the local development.
