In Chinese universities, the girls' day celebration is a specicl event, usually falling on around Women's Day, to show respect and concern for girls and women teachers. In UPC, it is well known as 'the Smiling Day', a traditional celebration for girls. This year, it kicked off on March 5 and a series of activities will be held in the following two weeks. 

On March 5, the opening ceremony of the 19th Smiling Day for Girls was held. Jiang Yuyuan, the Olympic gymnastics champion, was invited to give lecture on the ceremony. She shared her experience in fulfilling the Olympic dream and encouraged students to keep on their dreams and make it true through every effort.

Chinese traditional activites, like handcraft, paper cutting and facial makeup, were held. In the following weeks, other events will be put on, like debating, speech contests, peotry contests. 

 On women's day, women teachers celebrated the special day through different activities.

    In modern society, women have been exerting their influence in different positions. More and more women are making changes to the society. Girl students should learn the importance of women's roles to the world and be proud to be a girl.
